Vlad's Vocation Vacation

Right, now, THIS is what I had been holding out for. Sorry to have been snippy but I hate Facebook-based discussion.

GA confirms a move by Joura family members to Queensland and their new coaching appointments there.

The Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS), in conjunction with Gymnastics Queensland (GQ), have announced the appointments of Vladimir Joura (Head Coach) and Irina Joura (Senior Coach) to their Women's Elite Program. In announcing the appointments, GQ Executive Director Wayne Hill stated, "We believe Vladimir's appointment will contribute to re-building a stable and high quality program that will once again be a positive contributor to the National initiative."

Vladimir Joura coached for 12 years at the highly successful West Australia Institute of Sport (WAIS) Women's program and takes with him to Brisbane his youngest daughter Natalia Joura who is a current member of the National Junior Squad.

Vladimir's departure will create a coaching opportunity at WAIS. If you are interested, please follow the links to the WAIS web site for details.

Best of luck to the family in their transition.

Feel sorry for his group of girls at WAIS. Hope they are not too sad, it seems to have come as a shock to them. At least now hopefully the talent of the QAS up-and-comers won't be wasted though.

Will Natalia and Dasha go to? I mean Dash is old enough to live on her own and make her own decisions I guess, i hope she stays at WAIS.

I think the part Mez has highlighted that says " and takes with him to Brisbane his youngest daughter Natalia Joura who is a current member of the National Junior Squad.
" might tell you about Natalia's plans Nik.

Without mention of Dasha, who knows. My guess is she will stay at uni in Perth.

Thanks Shelley, I always skim read websites, unfortunately, and then ask stupid questions :)
I hope Dasha makes a comeback at WAIS regardless

Very interesting development, and great news for Queensland gymnastics.

QLD gymnasts will finally get the kick up the pants they need (in a good way) to make it big on the International & National stage again. Aside from Larrissa (& Nomes training again) we've haven't really flooded the top ranks again. I miss the days of Skinner, Kelly, Tanner even Zarnay & Arrowsmith, Sims, Dykes.

C'mon QLD- fight back!!

if things happened earlier gymnasts like amaya and amber would have never moved. and i heard Amber FUlljames has finished aswell, what a shame, she was such a beautiful gymnast. but on the bright side atleast QAS may have a decent program and those wonderfully talented juniors commming through want be wasted (as someone had already posted.)

Vladmir is a brilliant coach and I've had the pleasure of working with him on a mentorship basis. It's a huge loss for the WAIS program however it will be a gain for gymnastics. Also, Irina's talents will no longer go to waste now that she will be a senior coach in the QAS program.
